2010: A year of contemplating Peace

I chose Peace as my word this year, not knowing all that the year would bring. It has been a busy and eventful year. I really feel I have learned a lot about peace. Both internal peace and external peace. I have learned more how to listen inside myself and find out what will bring me internal peace. I have learned more what external influences can help bring me peace and are truely peaceful.

I like order and plans. Even if the plans change and the order is temporary. I have found peace in cleaning and organizing. There is something lovely about being alone with your thoughts while performing simple tasks. Sometimes I need music to motivate me, but other times I am grateful to scrub dishes, fold laundry or mop the floor and just think about things while I do.

I am learning to say no to things I really want when they are causing internal turmoil. It is more important to feel at peace then it is to experience and do everything. It is more important to find balance in life than to be constantly busy and not fulfilled.

I have found peace and happiness playing with my kids and listening to their desires. It has led to changes.

I have found peace in keeping certain routines. In making sure I get my daily scripture and meditation time. In remembering to read and pray with my children. In saying no to working outside the home even if it logically makes sense to others. I am at peace with my important role as mother. Even when it involves cleaning and laundry. I choose this life. It is mine.

I am so excited for a new year and for all the hope and possibilities I see in it. Things are full of hope and peace. It has been a wonderful year.

Finding peace

My word for 2010 is peace. I have been thinking and learning about this word all year. I have been seeking peace in my choices, my feelings, my thoughts. I have learned so much about peace. But so much of it feels so deeply personal to who I am. It becomes hard to put into words and know how much I am comfortable sharing.

I have found peace while doing mundane household chores. I have learned to seek peace in choices about what to do with my time. I have learned to feel around in my heart to find what is preventing me from feeling peaceful about decisions. I have found peace in trials and in the knowledge that I am growing and improving. I have learned to slow down and not cram too much into a day or I will lose my peace.

I can't explain it but there is so much I have learned by focusing on peace this year. There are three more months of peace seeking before I choose a new word, but I am always thinking I should write an update and tell you how this word picking is more than a once a year thing for me. I really do think about it all the time throughout the year.

Peace.

2010: Peace

There are many words I wanted to choose for my word this year. But the word that I keep coming back to is peace. So 2010 becomes the year of seeking to be peaceful, finding peace, making peace, looking for peace, listening for peace.

Peace has many definitions. Number 6 is freedom of the mind from annoyance, distraction, anxiety, an obsession, etc.; tranquillity; serenity. That is where I think I'm starting.

Think of those days where you know you are doing what needs to happen, when you feel at peace with your role and that you are fulfilling it well. I seek more of that, in contrast with the days where I am hurriedly running around trying to get us to various appointments and commitments and barely have time to take care of eating. Doing too much takes away my peace.

Peace fits me perfectly this year because in seeking peace in my actions I can be positive that it is the right path for my family. It's a perfect follow up for me to gentle and listen because gentleness and listening are things you must posess in seeking peace.

In my daily living, by seeking peace I will find more happiness in daily life and an assurance I am on the right path. I believe seeking peace can help keep priorities in order.

I believe it can help me become more like Definition 7, a state of tranquillity or serenity. I wish to be a more peaceful person.

I already am peaceful compared to the me 10 years ago. But there is more progress I can make, and in 2010 I seek to find daily peace in my soul

What is your word this year?
