Hmm, we play games at the kitchen table usually and don't have more than 1 or 2 out at a time, depending on if the kids are playing together or separately. Games are put away before others are taken out. Puzzles are generally the same.
Both are past the "dumping" age where they open boxes and dump things out. At that time, things weren't at their reach b/c I didn't enjoy continually picking them up.
I guess I've just emphasized and been a part of teaching them to put away one before getting another out. They play with pieces sometimes, but I remind them that if we can't find the piece next time we want to play the game, that would be sad.
Any random pieces I do find go in the box immediately or in a little bowl of random small items that need putting away.

Some games and puzzles kept at kid level. The precarious stacking amuses me - it changes daily.
We started some seeds this week!

OK, the game issue. How do you stay on top of that? I have game pieces *everywhere*! lol
