Audubon center

We checked out the local Audubon center this month and had a good time. Princess was very interested in doing the crafts, she is just so big now. I can't believe how grown up and independent she has become recently.

Dinoguy spent a while making an owl puppet, he usually isn't very interested in the crafts. Trainboy taught the lady at the origami table how to make paper cranes - she hadn't been able to figure it out. Then we visited some of their exhibits and learned about river formation and the flooding plains in the local area.

Finally we checked out a bit of their trails and looked for birds. But it was a Saturday and the center was packed with people and I wasn't really prepared for a ton of hiking so we didn't stay very long. I think the kids would have stayed all day, they really liked it.

Toddler explorations

Or what happens when I am watching the soccer game more than what Princess is doing. She was completely coated in dirt on her face at one point.

Princess' scripture bag

I made a little Book of Mormon bag carrier for Princess out of some old receiving blankets using these instructions. She was thrilled because she sees her brothers carry scriptures to church and usually wants to carry her own as well. This makes it easier for her and it's so cute! She brings it out every night when we read scriptures and is very protective of her book.

I told Trainboy I'd make one for him too, but he didn't like any of the fabrics I had on hand. We still haven't made it to the fabric store to find an acceptable "boy" fabric for him.

Dinoguy has a scripture bag and his large scripture set from his eighth birthday. But since bringing scriptures is very emphasized in primary now, Trainboy also tries to take scriptures each week - and we have enough extras that he has some he considers his until he gets his own official set at eight.

Cub scout field trip

We took the wolves on a field trip to a local electric train museum. It was my first field trip with the den since becoming a den leader. They are full of energy. It went well and was a success!

Soccer

This spring the boys have tried out playing soccer. Their reaction after their first games? "Soccer is a lot of exercise." "Soccer is a lot of running." It doesn't look like they are going to stick with it since they don't want to practice any skills and tell me it isn't their favorite as much as baseball, but atleast they've gotten the chance to try it out.
